ALPINESTARS Tech-Air Off-Road Airbag System

Alpinestars Tech-Air Off-Road Airbag. The Tech-Air® Off-Road is the first airbag system designed and tested for off-road use capable of resisting the most extreme conditions and providing comprehensive protection in all-terrain driving. Developed and tested since 2017 in the toughest competitions in the world like Rally-Dakar under the requirements of professional drivers. The Tech-Air® Off-Road offers the most advanced active airbag technology: with several sensors to detect impacts, accelerations and movements to activate at the right time. The airbag is integrated with jackets with the predisposition for the Alpinestars Tech-Air® to provide maximum and complete protection in chest, back, shoulders, neck and collarbones. It incorporates level 2 Nucleon CELL protections ultra-light, flexible and ventilated in chest and back, as well as protections in elbows and shoulders. Suitable for up to 2 airbag activations before changing the inflation cartridges.

It offers three preset driving modes (ENDURO, RALLY, and STREET) to adapt to the right style in various environments and demands even for urban use.

AIRBAG SYSTEM and CONTROL UNIT

• Total coverage of airbag in chest, back, shoulders and neck that provides maximum protection in the torso. The neck area is covered according to FIM regulations.
• Double inflator thanks two cartridges that allow up to 2 airbag deployments, as only one gas inflator will be spent to inflate the airbag system during an accident.
• It offers an average inflation time of 52 milliseconds (according to the size of the airbag) for excellent protection in rapid impacts.
• Approval for up to 4 deployments before replacement, provided that it has not been damaged in one of the first 3 deployments.
• Robust internal housing located on the back protector Nucleon CELL with integrated CE certification accommodates the system ECU and gas inflators, which allows to wear the TechAir® Off-Road system with any jacket with the Tech-Air® Ready predisposition of Alpinestars, or with any motorcycle jacket that fits correctly.
• Fully autonomous and independent system; 3 accelerometers (1 triaxial accelerometer) and 3 gyroscopes (1 triaxial gyroscope) integrated into the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) to provide the best performance of collision monitoring and active protection of the airbag in a variety of dynamic all-terrain driving scenarios.
• System power with integrated and certified lithium battery, with a maximum load duration of 30 hours and a recharge time of approximately 4 hours. Battery charge for approximately 1 hour will provide approximately 8 hours of driving usage.
• Tech-Air® Off-Road system ECU with sealing and protection inside the vest to ensure its performance in any weather condition, and the vest and its components are certified to operate between -10°C and 50°C.
• Bluetooth connectivity with Tech-Air® app that allows easy access to the operating status of the system, the battery state and the recording of "My Ride Trip" from a mobile device, provided there is network coverage.
• Updates of the airbag system firmware available through the app (iOS and Android) Tech-Air® for when improvements are made in collision detection algorithms.
• Quick opening of the lid allows the rapid replacement of the gas inflator by the user, only available in countries where the replacement of the gas inflator by individuals is permitted by local regulations.
• Useability; to turn on the Tech-Air® Off-Road System, simply upload the system zip and automatically turn on and activate the system. To deactivate the airbag, decompress the system and automatically shut down.

MATERIAL

• Manufactured with top quality materials combined with innovative design and Nucleon CELL Bee Nest technology that create a very ventilated, lightweight, ergonomic and very resistant passive protector.
• Breathable elastic mesh for superior ventilation while keeping the protection close to the motorist's body also has the CE certification of Class C inner garment.
• Adjusted elastic fabric that incorporates a floating thermoformed, highly ventilated and flexible pectoral protector for an optimal driving experience.

PROTECTION

• Passive chest protector with very light, flexible and ventilated Nucleon CELL technology for high performance with CE level 2 certification.
• Back protector with Nucleon CELL technology very light, flexible and very ventilated for high performance with CE level 2 certification.
• Replaceable protections of elbows and shoulders with CE level 1 certification for additional protection against impacts in strategic areas.

COMFORT

• Side zipper for a better fit and ease of use that allows the jacket to offer full frontal breast protection.
• Ergonomic design that offers the pilot exceptional comfort and freedom of movement in any situation.
• Additional front padding in the arms and chest for greater protection of the sleepers.
• Electronic control unit (ECU) and the Tech-Air® Off-Road system airbag are completely dismantled so that the protective jacket can be washed separately.

OTHER FEATURES

• Compatible with water bag: rear support for a hydration bag with capacity of 1,5-3 liters (not included).

• FIM Homologation for use in competition and Rally Cross Country regulations.

ATTENTION: Neck protectors are NOT compatible with the Airbag Systems, therefore the Tech-Air® OFF-ROAD System is NOT compatible with the use of the Alpinestars Bionic Neck Support (BNS) or any other neck protector.

MODOS DE CONDUCTION: ENDURO, RALLY AND STREET

Driving modes are easy to navigate in motion through the LED screen located on the front of the system or through the Tech-Air® app. It also has a rest* mode, to deactivate the airbag system during transport or when it is not used for a long period of time.

• ENDURO mode: Designed for low and medium speeds, this system is optimized for users who circulate on non-stop surfaces such as gravel, riverbeds, mud and other natural terrain. Ideal for typical driving scenarios involving multiple direction changes, obstacles and low-speed hills.
• Modo RALLY: Designed for rapid off-road action on various terrains, this system is recommended for driving in extensive straight stretches with bumps and different surfaces at higher speeds, less common situations in conventional Enduro competitions. Ideal for desert terrain with dunes, sandy soil, gravel and open field areas, it is optimized to face specific driving conditions characterized by higher speeds and varied terrain.
• STREET mode: Designed for urban and interurban use, ideal to use on asphalted roads, including situations in which the driver's motorcycle can be hit by another vehicle while being stopped.

(*) Rest mode: It allows you to disconnect the battery from the system during transport or when not used for a long period of time. Only accessible once the electronic box of the rear protector is removed.
