ALPINESTARS Tech-Air 7x Airbag System

Alpinestars Tech-Air® 7x Airbag. The Tech-Air® 7x airbag system has been specifically developed for competition use, "Track Days" and high-performance road driving thanks to its advanced technology and FIM approval.

Based on the technology developed for the professional Alpinestars riders in the MotoGP and other competitions, this autonomous system provides complete protection at the top of the body, covering the shoulders, chest, ribs and all the back, even in the lower part of the coxis thanks to its extended protector. The advanced system with integrated sensors analyzes the movement of the pilot to activate at the right time, offering an ultra-fast inflation time of only 44 milliseconds, reducing the impact strength to 90% compared to a standard EC passive protector.

Designed to be easily used under Tech-Air® Ready/Tech-Air® technology-compatible monkeys or jackets, as well as in monkeys and jackets that have the space to inflate the airbag. In addition, it also stands out for offering the "Race" and "Street" driving modes to adjust the algorithm according to the driving type.

 

AIRBAG SYSTEM

• Integral protection of the upper body on shoulders, chest and all back. The protector is extended to provide additional protection to the coccyx area.
• Advanced technology with integrated sensors: 3 triaxial accelerometers (1 on the back protector and 2 on the shoulders) and 1 triaxial gyroscope (on the back protector). These sensors constantly monitor the pilot's body to detect unexpected shocks or movements at any time.
• Ultra-fast inflated by advanced algorithm that allows you to deploy the airbag with a maximum inflation time of about 44-60 milliseconds depending on the size.
• Extended back protector Nucleon CELL with CE level 1 certification and space for the dual load of airbag inflators.
• Charging capacity for two gas inflators, which provides up to two independent airbag deployments. Only one inflator will deploy to inflate the airbag system in case of impact.
• Approved air for up to 4 deployments before replacing it, provided that it has not been damaged in one of the first 3 deployments.
• Tech-Air® 7x Airbag System is designed to be easily connectable to suits or racing jackets compatible with the Alpinestars Tech-Air® system for greater practicality and comfort. To use under unsupported monkeys and jackets, check the free space of at least 4 centimeters in the chest circumference.
• System power with integrated and certified lithium battery, with a maximum load duration of 20 hours and a recharge time of approximately 4 hours. Battery charge for approximately 1 hour will provide approximately 8 hours of driving usage.
• Tech-Air® 7x Centralite ECU with sealing and protection inside the vest to ensure performance in any weather condition, certified to run between -10°C and 50°C.
• Automatic deflation of the airbag, to progressively deflate the compartments through a valve after inflating.
• Useability; to turn on the Tech-Air® 7x System, simply close the front flap to automatically turn on and activate the airbag system using the magnetic detector. To deactivate the airbag, open the front flap and turn off automatically.

CONTROL UNIT

• Integrated LED screen located in the front flap, which indicates the operating status of the system, battery and number of inflators available.
• Connectivity for external LED screen with cable to install on compatible monkeys or racing jackets (not included).
• You can connect to an LED screen on the left arm of suits or compatible jackets or through a separate LED screen with cable (not included).
• Load port integrated into the front flap for easy access to the connector using a USB-C cable.
• Bluetooth connectivity that allows you to monitor the status of the system, battery and travel details through the Tech-Air® app.
• Updates of the airbag system firmware available through the app (iOS and Android) Tech-Air® for when improvements are made in shock detection algorithms.

MATERIAL

• Manufactured in strong and very breathable technical fabric, designed with air channels and the perforated rear protection zone that provides an excellent airflow for better rider comfort.
• Breathable elastic mesh for superior ventilation while keeping the protection close to the motorist's body also has the CE certification of Class C inner garment.
• Easily washable base layer by hand, after removing non-washable parts that include: airbag, gas inflators and all electronic components; including LED and wiring display.

OTHER CHARACTERISTICS

• Easily replaceable components: gas inflators, electronic wiring and airbag.
• Equipped with converter kit, it also allows to use the airbag system independently for versatility in the real world.
• Approximate weight of 1.8 kilos.

HOMOLOGATION AND CERTIFICATIONS

• F.I.M Homologation and compatibility with Grand Prix requirements. The Tech-Air® 7x System is compatible with all requirements of the FIM Grand Prix for airbag systems, making it suitable for road and circuit racing competitions.
• Certificate as personal protection team (PPE) of Category II under European Regulation (EU) 2016/425.
• Certification of the airbag system according to DOLOMITICERT guidelines for inflatable protectors with electronic activation as central inflatable back protector, Level 2, EN 1621-4:2018, protective garment, Class C, EN 17092-6:2020 and central passive back protector, Level 1, EN 1621-2:2014.
• Certified as an inner garment, to be used in combination with and under a protective garment.

DRIVING MODE

The Tech-Air® 7x system is equipped with two driving modes, RACE and STREET, which have specific AI-based shock detection algorithms that can be easily selected through the Tech-Air® app.

• RACE mode: Designed specifically for driving in closed race circuits and is preset in the system, providing a configuration adapted to the conditions and requirements of the racetracks.
• STREET mode:  Optimized for urban driving and light terrain off-road.
